PHONICS AND WHOLE WORD READING METHODS
MULTIMEDIA TEACHING APPROACH

Phonological mapping is the ability to decode the smallest syllables in the English language and correlate them with associated sounds. Phonics gives students the ability to apply skills and strategies to improve their fluency in the English language through the alphabetic code.

Unfortunately, not all English words can be learned using the phonics way. Many irregular words are taught by look-and-say, whole word or sentence methods.

MELS - 44 : A researched reading programme for beginners to get a strong foundation of the English language. A combination of phonics and whole word methods would provide students with a sound base in the acquisition of the reading skill.

MELS - 44 is enriched with multimedia teaching strategies. Licensed schools and users can access the programme. It provides very consistent, accurate and easy-to-follow reading materials.
